Stove Blower
Can I add heating ducts to a Wood stove blower?
Oil prices are sky high, so i’m trying to pipe the heat from my parents wood stove in the den, throughout the house. Their bedroom is directy above the Den, so putting a vent in the celing will be a cheap, easy and effective way to heat that room. What about the other rooms on the ground floor?
What i’m thinking about is having a duct attached to 1 of the 2 exaust vents. Then piping it through the floor into the basement. Then up through the living room floor. I will add a circulation fan or 2 along the way to help move the air.
So……
1) Do i need a return duct? or will the air get drawn back into the den anyway? (interior doors are always open)
2) Since the heat coming from the exaust duct will be scorching hot, will the standard heating duct be able to withstand the heat?
